Adjusting to a 100ms difference actually takes a while and I would also suggest trying to pick one that is good for most. You can play well with any latency up to about 300ms.as we have talked about a lot in the last month, its when your latency is jumping all over the shop that it gets unplayable. If they had just put an icon in chat indicating what server a player is on, at least they could have reduced player log-offs reduced chat traffic ("where are you?") and made it easier for the players. Only WG could spend so much time and money to make it just as difficult for half their player base to play. So, we have half the matchmaking population and players that platoon or TC often are still screwed. We can't do that because roughly half the ARS population will remain on a crappy server.

I'd say we just set the West coast server to the ARS default one for platooning, if people want to play on East while playing solo then that's fine, just be aware that you'd need to swap over to platoon or take part in a TC Adjusting to it then moving back to 170ms for a few games is not going to work. Yeah, moving to the West coast server will probably bump my ping up to 250ms, but I can live with that once I adjust to it. We need to stick with a single server to allow people to adjust to the latency difference. Mathematically, yeah, but in reality? No. So the difference in lag between east and west is a red herring. Since a gun with a dispersion of 0.5 (mediocre) will be firing through a cone 1 metre wide at 100 metres, the difference in lag is only more significant than random chance when shooting at fast targets at ranges under about 150m.

An 80ms ping difference, when shooting at a target moving at 60km/h (fast) works out to be a positional difference of about 1.3 metres.
